An Artist in Exile.
The Viloshin Letters

Publisher’s Preface

I drove over to my studio in Culver City one night back in 1989. I had been sick for some days, and the mail had piled up. Among the usual array of junk mail, bills, catalogs and invoices to a former tenant, there was a postcard from a friend in Hawaii and finally, a large manila envelope. I opened that one first, and found eleven photocopied prints with what looked like Russian handwriting on the back of each.
